The Achilles tendon is of paramount importance in the movements of the ankle and the stresses of which it is the object are impressive. The largest tendon of the human body, it can undergo up to 8x its weight during certain sports activities. Subject to repeated micro-lesions, it is easily subject to a chronic attack that can be complicated by a rupture.
